Legendary Harry J Studio, located at 10 Herb McKenley Drive, Kingston 6, Jamaica is unlike any other recording centre on the island. Famous for records from Bob Marley & The Wailers' albums in the 1970s, before the Tuff Gong Era.
With successful productions like “Catch A Fire” and “Rastaman Vibration,” the studio brags contribution to Jamaica's musical history.
Socially, a landmark lyming spot for the Rolling Stones, The Who, and Grace Jones …just to mention a few.
Now, the studio operates under the management of Tara Johnson, along with brother Dale Johnson (children of Harry J).
With plans for reopening the studio late 2018, Tara and Dale are aiming to preserve their father's legacy through focusing on fusing rich history and tradition with a comfortable workspace for new talent.
Founder, producer Harry J secured a deal with Island Records, which led to productions with artists Burning Spear, Ken Boothe, Jonny Nash, Augustus Pablo and Zap Pow albums, with sound engineer Sylvan Morris.
We encourage establishing new partnerships and cultivation of new talent for the continued preservation and growth of the reggae industry. Reach out to see what we can do for you.
